-- Doc Hammer on the whereabouts of Jackson Publick prior to their first signing.
Well after spinning around the room for about an hour... and waking up the rest of the crew it was off to Day 2 of Comic-Con. Before that, called The Snyde again... unfortunately he didn't pick up... even more unfortunate was that apparently I didn't charge my phone the night before (gee, I wonder why?) So I asked that he call Smaddy if he couldn't get through to me. Becca and Chuckles and their party already had a head start on us and were going to purchase some Transformers goodies (also grab a Nemesis Prime for myself.) We arrived via parking to trolley and told Becca to meet us again at the [as] booth. At first nothing much had been going on.... we ran into Thom and he asked if I had wanted to be interviewed (how could I pass up?) He then showed us a painting he made for Tim and Eric which was for Tom Goes to the Mayor (bad-assness.) Shortly thereafter Doc Hammer showed up since he and Jackson had a signing soon. He asked Smaddy to stick around (apparently they had a thing going the previous day while I was at the boring Hasbro panel.) so Smaddy stuck around... but I had other intentions (going to see panels, exhibits, etc) which were soon put to a screeching halt.
About a split second after, Smaddy says "Look! C. Martin Croker!" the first of many [adult swim] celebs to stop at the booth. Right after that, Pete Smith (producer of the Brak Show) came to the booth and the 4 of them started chatting it up as Becca showed up with my Transformer, then we let Chiclo go to go persue Star Trek memoribilia and things of that nautre. Afterwards I get into the Pete/Croker chat after mentioning to Pete that I know Atarian. So we chatted for a bit, talked about The Brak Show, and even the ATC.com logo that Atarian designed. Croker pointed out that he actually made the Baffler Shake design for that Space Ghost ep, which made me jokingly throw up my hands and say "Please don't sue!" :D So then after Pete and C. Martin went away, I talked it up a bit with some of the staffers at the booth, while they continued to prepare for the interview to end all interviews. I also started handing out some of the ATC swag after Smaddy mentioned that I should've given some to Pete and Croker (Me idiot.) We basically hung around the suggestion box area after that, watching random kids throw in their "WE HATE ANIME AND TOM GOES TO THE MAYOR" suggestions. Smaddy decided to throw in some comments, and thought I should as well.... I couldn't really think of anything so I pulled out a longshot and suggested they try to put Rejected (the cartoon film by Don Hertzfeld that never made it through S&P a few years ago and decended into limbo shortly afterwards) on the air. Then the fun continued....
[as] Booth Day 2: Dethklok. Thom Foolery sets up for interviews, while his peers are on coffee break.
A bad-ass painting made by Thom for Tim and Eric.
After circling for a bit (because SDCC security was a bit tight-assed about people "making their own lines.") we came back again to wait for my interview. More and more people get in line for the Jackson/Doc signings, and we're only a few minutes from go time. We then turn from facing the booth and notice Merrill and SwimRaven from adultswim.com are right behind us, we talk for a minute, and we notice a woman in an ATHF shirt comes up to us who turns out to be Dana's wife (a.k.a: Lady Shake.) She recognized us as the "people Dana chats with online." Then it was time for the interview.... Thom called me over, and Vishal Roney did the interviewing from behind the camera. Some pretty basic questions, i'll give a rundown:
- My name and where I live (duh?)
- What I like about [adult swim] (ATHF of course, which lead to my pimping the site.)
- What the strangest rumor I heard was (I had a guy who used to webmaster on another site supposedly leaked info to me regarding the 4th Aqua Teen. Of course the guy was kind of a jerk and I think even may have hated me out of jealousy or something.)
- The most drastic thing we've had to do in regards to policing rumors. (I brought up the incident where BeanTroll implemented the "don't whine about the fake cancellation" rule shortly after [as] started airing those "The Final Episode: Every Sunday at Midnight" commercials.
After that..... more fun ensued.......
Carey Means
A minute following the start of my interview, I notice another familiar face walk up to the booth: Ned Hastings (Producer of ATHF.) I introduce myself and pass along the very highly praised ATC.com ceramic coasters (plus a magnet and a sticker.) Security gives us the bum's rush yet again after talking with Ned and Lady Shake. After a few minutes, Lady Shake went to look around, Ned stuck with me and the girls as we went out to the lobby after being pushed around by SDCC security. We talked for what seemed ages about ATHF episodes, other [as] shows past and present, even going into a bit of nostalgia by delving into the former ATHF.com (eventually Cartoon Stew, now faded away.) and how he snuck onto their forums, only to get flamed by n00bs. :(
We then made our way back to the booth, and continued to wait for Doc and Jackson's signing to end. Eventually the Minoriteam guys arrived and began signing, got a few more pics with the VB guys and shortly after we ran into Jay Edwards (ATHF Producer), Carey Means (Frylock), and eventually Dana and some more of his group buddies. We also ran into Wendy from iheartrobotchicken.com who joined in on the chat. Dana and co. went off to find his wife, everyone else went their seperate ways. Then the Tom Goes to the Mayor crew arrived.
Tim, Eric, and a bunch of metal dudes.
Both Tim and Eric pass by and greet Smaddy as they head for the signing table. Doug Lussenhop (editor for TGTTM) sneaks up from behind and chats for a bit. Davin Wood (Tom's music composer) shows up and joins in. When we're done, we try to get on line for the T+E signing since it's not very long (at least as not long as the VB one) I get introduced to the boys and they sign my T+E DVD which I had purchased a couple of years previous. Then we go snag some V masks since they were the popular thing to get. After trying for ages to hunt some down, we get them and head back to the booth. Tim and Eric are being interviewed and are constantly whoring out the well-awaited Tomicon (a small TGTTM get together to occur at a local watering hole nearby, prior to Comic-Con's opening.) The boys then muck around with some robots who looks like they came right off the set of Captain EO.

This girl had a rather creative outfit. Lady Shake begged to differ.
And that was pretty much the whole day... we met back up with Chiclo and sat down for a bit. Tim and Eric asked Smaddy to hand out some Tomicon flyers so they headed back to the [as] booth and passed some out while also getting some Dethklok swag including a poster signed by Brendan Small (which Smaddy ended up giving to me. ^__^ ) Afterwards we called Dana to see when to meet. It was agreed that we would set something up shortly following the [as] panel tomorrow. Then we headed back to the 'tel, watched some movies, and didn't get drunk this time. :D
-- Mrs. Dana Snyder... now known to the world as Lady Shake (and sometimes Snyde-Wife. I made that up myself.)
Day 3... eventually.
